After an initial visit to the Emergency Room in Modesto on July 8th, Jane was admitted to Memorial hospital for testing.
Preliminary reports were read by the attending physician and a neurosurgeon was asked to consult on July 9th.
Subsequently, the neurosurgeon at Memorial requested a medical transport to UCSF Medical Center in San Francisco for a more detailed diagnosis.
On July 10th Jane had inter-cranial surgery to remove a mass that was compressing her left optic nerve.
The 6 hour emergency brain surgery was a success; the pressure on her left optic nerve was relieved.
She has a very good chance of regaining some sight in her left eye.
95% of the mass was removed and pathology from a biopsy of the mass is still pending.
Jane is recovering from surgery on schedule and is eager to hear from her friends and family.
The medical staff at UCSF will continue to monitor her progress closely and will be working on a plan to admit her into an acute rehabilitation facility in San Francisco.
The Chawingas and the extended family are so grateful to those of you who are praying and helping out; please no visitors until she gets to rehab please.
Her prayer needs are;
